Once (revisited)

I was once a bright bird.

You found me in the tangled

web of anxiety and reverie-

You gathered my waxy wings

and delicately mended my broken

body onto the back of your

own tragedy…

Here we pause.

We see two figures wrapped

together- trying to heal.

We cannot see where one arm ends

and the other begins.

Can you hear their truths?

One whispers of sadness and pain,

the other bitterness and hope-

a common ground to lay upon,

broken and weary.

And yet- they rise.

Not only the

intended phoenix-

This is the Fire.

Her wind gives him

strength to climb out

of the embers of an existence

fraught with blame

and self destruction.

Slowly, tenderly,

in spite of the

vicious storms set to

hobble his plight-

he begins to take

shape once more.

He is now a bolt of

fire in the night sky,

thunderous and powerful,

wrapped

in her feathery breath.

At once!

They are reborn-

both the phoenix

and the flame.
